Board nixes downtown sign

Siloam Springs Board of Directors unanimously denied an LED sign to be installed at Mount Olive and University streets.

An LED sign was recently donated to the city, and City Administrator David Cameron said he wanted direction from the board before proceeding to get a variance to install the sign downtown.

The sign was planned to sit in the parking lot north of the Community Building.

The city would’ve needed the variance because LED signs are prohibited in the historic (H-1) district, which includes downtown.

Directors considered tabling discussion on the sign, but after hearing from the board and public, Cameron suggested they vote down the resolution.
