WILLIAM B. “BILL” ALLEN passed away on Tuesday, June14, 2011. He was born March 9, 1925, to William and Lorene Allen in Little Rock, Ark.

Bill was educated in the Little Rock School System and entered the military serviceafter graduation, serving in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. He was manager of the Floyd Payne Company for over 20 years prior to joining Fox Brothers Company in 1973, where he was employed as a Sales Representative.

In 1986, Bill was elected Potentate of the Scimitar Shrine Temple. He was a Past Master of Pulaski Heights Lodge #673 and served as District Deputy Grand Master in 1974-75. He was a member of the York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite Bodies, Royal Order of Jesters Court 12, Bendemeer Grotto and was a Past President of Scimitar Oriental Band. He served on the Grand Lodge Youth and Scholarship Board and was a recipient of the DeMolay Legion of Honor.

Bill was one of those individuals who attracted a crowd where he went with his humor, sarcasm and charm. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing trips to Alaska with his dear friend, Bob Shoptaw.

Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon K. (Connally) Allen; mother-in-law, Tina Walker of Danville; sisters-in-law, Susan Duffield (Ronnie) of Russellville and Carla Hill (Steve)of Tulsa; brother-in-law, Robert McMullen (Kay) of Dardanelle; nephews, Matthew Duffield and Robbie McMullen; niece, Stephanie Guidroz; several-great nieces, nephews and godchildren; along with a very large group of wonderful friends he also considered family.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 20, at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church at 20900 Chenal Parkway in Little Rock with a reception and celebration of life to immediately follow at the church.

CARRIE CLEMONS, 90, of North Little Rock passed away June 15,2011.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Clemons; five sisters; five brothers; and one nephew, Ellis Williams Jr. She is survived by six nieces and three nephews.

EDWIN LEO OSBURN, a native of Arkansas born July 25,1926, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2011.

He was a resident of Andover Place in Little Rock for the past two years. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy asa signalman in the South Pacific on the Oil Tanker the USS Pecos.

He worked in the Oil Industry as an Auditor spending 17 years overseas in Venezuela, S.A.

Leo, as he was known by his friends, loved music, especially Big Band music. He loved playing the drums in his younger years, loved good food and good fun. He was faithful to his friends. He had a quick wit and a sense of humor with a remarkable zest for life.

He is survived by his two daughters, sons-in-law, three grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren, all residing in Texas.

A funeral service will be held at the Ruebel Funeral Home at 6313 W. Markham St. in Little Rock at 2 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2011.

SCOTT DeWAYNE SPEERS, 52, of Little Rock, Ark., died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Baptist Health Medical Center. He was born Dec. 20, 1958, in San Diego, a son of the late Gerald Speers and Earnestene Speers of Little Rock. Scott workedwith Trac Works Inc. for 31 years, and was a member of Life Line Baptist Church.

Survivors are his daughter, Tonya Speers; grandchildren, Devin Ray, Corbin Lee, Chloe Paige and Caydin Marie Skalski; his mother, Earnestene Speers, all of Little Rock; sisters, Stacey Morehart and Leslie Holthoff of Mabelvale; seven nephews and nieces; and one great-nephew and one great-niece.

JERRY LEE THOMAS, age 73, of Little Rock, Ark., died Friday, June 17, 2011, at St. Vincent’s Infirmary Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 24, 1937, in Little Rock to the late James A. and Annie Janski Thomas.

Jerry worked for the United States Postal Service starting as a mail sorter and then working his way up as Superintendent of Logistics and Distribution before retiring after 27 years of service. In addition, he was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was aboard the USS Intrepid.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jimmie Dot Thomas; three children, Craig Thomas (Jessie) of Maumelle, Ark., Chris Thomas (Shelly) of Mabelvale, Ark., and Carma Tollett (Bud) of Little Rock, Ark.; one brother, Glen Thomas (Vedna Mae) of Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters, Wanda Koon (Charles) of Paron, Ark., and Shirley Eslick of Alexander, Ark.; six grandchildren, Keri Thomas (Krista) of Little Rock,Ark., Ashli Thomas of Maumelle, Ark., Dakota Tollett and Montana Tollett, both of Little Rock, Ark., and Bryce Thomas and Brantley Thomas, both of Mabelvale, Ark. VERSIE SHIRRON KEY TILLEY, 96, of Jacksonville, Ark., passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011, in Jacksonville, Ark. She was of the Methodist Faith.

A longtime resident of Camden, Ark., Versie had moved to Jacksonville in 2003 to be near her son, Tommy Key. Versie Louise Shirron was born in Dallas County, Ark., on March 9, 1915, to Jim and Sally Shaddock Shirron. She married Clarence Key on Dec. 7, 1935. Clarence passed away on their 10th wedding anniversary. Versie married Wardie Tilley in 1949. Wardie passed away in 1965.

Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Key; sisters, Ora Belle, Elizabeth and Alpha; brothers, Bo, Guy, Bennie, Clyde and Morgan. Versie is survived by her son, Tommy Key and wife Joyce of Jacksonville, Ark.; two sisters, Frances Grisham ofCamden, Ark., and Dorothy Denton of Sparkman, Ark.; brother, Melvin Shirron of Camden, Ark.; daughter-in -law, Barbara Key of Camden, Ark.; six grandchildren, Debbie Key, Sydney Schalchlin (Todd) and Jimmie Sue Key, all of Camden, Ark., Stephanie Key (Brandon Coats) and Melissa Matus (Steve), both of Jacksonville, Ark., and Calvin Key (Tara) of Holmen, Wis.; and nine greatgrandchildren.

Graveside services for Mrs. Tilley will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the Old Holly Springs Cemetery, with Rev. Stanley Clemons officiating. Proctor Funeral Home of Camden is in charge of arrangements.

JAMES PHILLIP WINHOLT, 82, of Little Rock passed away June 10, 2011. He was born in Chicago to Ernest F. and Frances Clawes Winholt.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and retired from American Airlines following 37 years of service. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Shirley Gronseth Winholt, he is survived by his son, David Winholt and wife Jill of Jacksonville; daughter, Pat Myrose and husband Ford of Little Rock; sister, Karyl Dodd of Gilbert, Ariz.; and grandchildren, James Myrose and wife Michelle of Tucson, Ariz., and Krista Sudduth and husband David of Little Rock.

Services will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Carl Hoffman. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.

ARKADELPHIA - Tom Wright Jr., age 82, of Arkadelphia died Friday, June 17, 2011. He was born Aug. 12, 1928, in Clark County, the son of Thomas and Cora Bennett Wright.

He was a retired groundskeeper for the Arkadelphia Country Club and Henderson State University and was a member of New Life Church.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Tucker.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Matilda Stewart Wright; a son, Stewart Wright of Bryant; one daughter, Dedra Angel of Alexander; and two grandchildren, Kit Wayne Carson and Misty Hill.

BENTON - Barbara Rose Martin of Benton, Ark., died June 17,2011, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.

Barbara was born April 30, 1942, in Shreveport, La., the daughter of Robert Chester Rose and Gladys Blackmon Rose. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Chester Rose Jr.

Barbara spent her childhood in northeast Louisiana where she met her husband “Jim” James B. Martin. They were married March 3, 1962, at New Prospect Baptist Church in Darnell, La. Jim and Barbara moved to Benton in 1973. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Benton.

As a business professional she owned and operated BRM Association Management and Services Inc., in which she managed three Statewide Associations. Prior to her forming BRM Association, she served on the Arkansas Optometric Association as Executive Director and previously held the position of Pulaski County Election Coordinator. Barbara was well-known in the hospitality industry and held positions at the Statehouse Convention Center, Excelsior Hotel, Hot Springs Convention Center and the Little Rock Convention Center.

Barbara is survived by her husband Jim; her daughters, Cindy Stracener (Doug) of Benton, Ark., Sheri Kelley (Jeff) of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; and her son, James B. Martin Jr. (Karen) of Lebanon, Tenn.; her Sister-in-law, Norma Rose of Many, La.; her brother, Charles D. Rose (Mary Ann) of Dallas; and her sister, Martha Rose Lower (Jack) of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Katy Stracener, Conor Martin, Bret Stracener, Blake Kelley and Loryn Kelley; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Sunday, June 19, from 3-5 p.m. at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton, (501) 315-4047. CONWAY - James Edward Daugherty, 92, of Conway passedaway on Saturday, June 18, 2011. He was born on Sunday, May 25, 1919, in Conway, Ark., to the late James E. and Elizabeth (Leinhart) Daugherty.

Jim grew up in Conway andenjoyed telling tales of growing up with his family in rural Conway. He was an excellent cabinet maker and was employed in construction by Nabholz and Starkey Construction before his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jim was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Daugherty was also a long-term (50-plus years) member of the Knights of Columbus. He and his wife were AARP members and volunteered regularly at the American Red Cross blood drive.

Jim will be remembered for his extraordinary garden. He generously shared its bountiful produce with anyone. His dry sense of humor, and devotion to his wife, Rose, who died in 2005 after 57 years of marriage, were keystones of his life.

He is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Daugherty) and Carroll Keatts of Little Rock, Sarah (Daugherty) and Ralph Thronton of Conway, and Rebecca (Daugherty) and Randy Kersten of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Kathryn (Keatts) and Matt Feehan of Honolulu, Hawaii, April (Kersten) and Arturo Torres, Jacob Kersten, and Michael Kersten of Little Rock; sister, Loretta Weisbrod of Independence, Mo.; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Daugherty, John Daugherty and Raymond Daugherty; and two sisters, Mary Moix and Bertha Dayer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Conway, with Father James Melnick officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum with Leonard Dayer, John Dayer, Larry Dayer, James Daugherty, Michael Kersten and Jacob Kersten serving as pallbearers. Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June21, 2011, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, followed by visitation from 7 to 9 p.m.

FORT SMITH - Avril Cook Wadsworth, 86, of Fort Smith,formerly of Monticello, died June 17, 2011, at home.

She was the widow of Dr. Norman Wadsworth. She was born in Pine Bluff, Ark., on Aug. 12, 1924, to the late AlvaCook and Bertha Ray Cook. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Otis “Buddy” Cook, who died when they were children.

Avril is survived by two daughters, Pam Wadsworth and Debbie Zouzas and husband, Jerry, all of Fort Smith; one brother, Don Cook and wife Betty of Houston; one step-granddaughter, Tina Lasiter of Muldrow, Okla.; two step-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-great-grandson.

A Memorial Service will be held at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello on Monday, June 20, at 10 a.m. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, June 19, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

HOPE - Thomas “Tim” E. Duckett 77, of Hope, Ark., passed away June 18, 2011, in Hope, Ark. He was born March 9, 1934, in Hope, Ark., to Tom and Hazel Rogers Duckett.

He retired from Duckett Construction and Harvey Industries. He was a lifetime member of Garrett Memorial Baptist Church of Hope. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty Qullin Duckett; one son, Mark Duckett; his mother and father; and one sister-in-law, Jennie Duckett.

He is survived by one son, Johnny and his daughter-inlaw Karen Hartsfield Duckett of Hope, Ark.; one daughter, Julie Duckett and his son-in-law Steve Lively of Hope, Ark.; one brother, Jessie Duckett of Hope, Ark.; one sister, Sue Duckett Smith of Hope, Ark.; four grandsons, Brian Duckett of Little Rock, Ark., Matthew Duckett of Fayetteville, Ark., Will Lively of Austin, and Clint Lively of Hope, Ark.; and four great-grandchildren.

HOT SPRINGS - Wanda Graves Young, 83, of Hot Springsdied Saturday, June 11, 2011. She was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Fort Smith, Ark., to John Franklin and Emma Irene Graves.

Wanda was a member of the 1945 Fort Smith High Schoolgraduating class. Her passion was painting and sculpting beautiful works of art, which she gladly shared with family and friends. As a longtime volunteer and Board member of the Fort Smith Girls Club, she enjoyed teaching art classes to the young ladies. She was an Arkansas State Trap Shooting Champion for a number of years, also enjoying bridge, golfing and flower gardening. Wanda was known for her devotion to her constant friend and companion, her husband of 63 years, Charles H. Young.

Loving survivors include her husband, Charles H. Young of Hot Springs; two sons, Charles W. and wife Ranie Young of Dallas, and James F. and wife Mary Ellen Young of Chicago;

daughter, Linda I. Young of Little Rock; brother, John Graves; sister, Wilma Green; five grandchildren, Charles Murray, Patrick Murray, Virginia Young, Clayton Young and Madeline Young.

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE - Col. William “Bill” Barrett (Retired),73, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., died on June 16, 2011.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2011, at the Village Bible Church in Hot Springs Village, Ark.

Bill was born on Feb. 21, 1938, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Doyle Barrett and Willie Morris Barrett. He proudly served his country for 30 years as an Army officer. He was a helicopter pilot, did two tours of duty in Vietnam, and two stints at the Pentagon. He was a member of the Village Bible Church.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Alice Barrett; a son, John Scott Barrett; and a sister, Nancy Barrett Roulaine. Bill is survived by his son, Bill Barrett and wife Becky of Hamilton, Texas; sisterin-law, Barbara Darrah Tompkins of Sheffield, Ala.; and three grandchildren, Joshua Ryan Campbell, Sean Casey Willmon and Spencer Austin Willmon.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the Village Bible Church or to Doctors Without Borders.

HUNTER - Buster “Eddie” Junior, 84, died Friday. He was born Nov. 21, 1926, in Hunter, Ark., a son of John W. and Cora Nelson Junior.

Eddie was a retired farmer, U.S. Army Veteran and member of the American Legion.

NORPHLET - Donald A. Mason, 93, went to be with his Lordand Savior in heaven on June 17, 2011. He was a man who loved his church and community and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Born in Corsicana, Texas,Feb. 3, 1918, his family moved to Norphlet in 1925 during the height of the oil boom. He often recounted exciting stories of the early days and his younger days growing up in the boom town environment. Awarded the Bronze Star Medal, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force Strategic Command. His overseas deployment took him to Pearl Harbor and Guam before returning home.Upon his discharge he returned to Norphlet and began his long and successful career as an independent oil producer. The oilfield was a passion he enjoyed for the remainder of his life. Throughout his career, he was recognized as a man of honor and integrity and his work ethic was second to none. However, he was never too busy to help a fellow friend or neighbor. He served for 27 years on the Norphlet City Council and was a member of First Baptist Church in Norphlet for 78 years, where he served as a deacon and was the church treasurer for 40 years. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Minnie Mason; and a sister, Marjorie Fielden. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Oma Mason of Norphlet; children and spouses, Donna and Lawrence Harrison of Norphlet, Steve and Mary Mason of Norphlet, and Tim and Rhonda Mason of Little Rock; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Young’s. CENTRAL CITY, Pa. - Mary Louise Richter Langrell, 90, of Central City, Pa., formerly of Pine Bluff, died at her daughter's home, Wednesday, June 15, 2011. She was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Pine Bluff to Otto R. and Mary L Carrington Ritcher.She was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School, and attended Monticello A&M College. She worked as a clerk at Kress for 28 years, and as a cashier at Reed Collier Drug for 10 years. Mrs. Langrell was a member of First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, while living in Pine Bluff, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, and President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of AARP, and the Art Center Community Concert. After moving to Pennsylvania, she spent six months each year with her son and six months with her daughter. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, in Johnstown, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel F. Langrell; and a sister, Lurena Feltner. Survivors are her daughter, Danna L. McDannell, of Central City; son, John R. Langrell, of Lyman, Maine; five grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Cecelia Mercer, of Dubach, La.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, with Dr. David Harris and Rev. Rick Etheridge officiating.
