The game was called after four innings.

“Tyler was doing a great job on the mound, but when we jumped ahead we wanted to work Raiff as well,” Tucker said. “Both did a great job of keeping their batters off balance, hitting their spots and staying focused. Offensively we just kept putting the ball in play. The errors from Fayetteville gave us extra opportunities, and we were able to take advantage of those.”

Dawes got the start in Game 2 and the Siloam Springs bats went to work again in the second inning.

After Van Poucke laced a triple to right-center field, Phillips blasted a two-run home run to leftcenter for a 2-0 lead.

Goodman reached on an error, and Dawes helped himself with a two-run home run to nearly the same spot as Phillips’ home run.

The two-run home runs gave Siloam Springs a 4-0 lead.

“We wanted to give Joey Dawes some action on the mound,” Tucker said. “It was his first outing on the mound for us this Senior Babe Ruth season. He did a fantastic job and kept Fayetteville quiet.”

Tucker added that a lot of reserves played in Game 2.

“We played a lot of thebench this game and they stayed focused to keep our defense strong,” he said.
