Freshman defeated at Bentonville

BENTONVILLE - Destyn Adkins scored two touchdowns and the Bentonville Gold defense turned in a solid effort in a 32-3 win against Siloam Springs in a ninth grade football game at Tiger Stadium.

Adkins had scoring runs of 12 yards and one yard while Bryce Davis had a 66-yard scoring run. Brandon Gorman also had a touchdown run for the Tigers.

Siloam Springs (0-2) held the ball the entire first quarter and drove 64 yards before settling for a 27-yard field goal by Omar Vasquez for a 3-0 lead. But the Gold defense shutdown the Panthers the rest of the way, including holding Siloam Springs to minus-11 yards in the second half.

“I’m really proud of the way they responded,” Gold coach Toma Whorton said. “I’m proud of our kids for digging in that second half and playing hard.”

Bentonville Fulbright beat Siloam Springs 30-6 in the eighthgrade game. The eighth grade Panthers are now 0-2.

Siloam Springs returns home to face Rogers Heritage.
