Ward 2 special election is Tuesday

Polls open Tuesday for the election to fill the vacant Ward 2 seat on the Board of Directors.

The four candidates running for the position are Brad Burns, Bob Highfill, Ken Kloet and Luke Wahlgren.

Early voting, which started last week, comes to an end Monday. Early voting is taking place at the Benton County Clerk's Office on Lincoln Street, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Building, 110 N. Mount Olive St., and at Total Life Community Center, 13710 Arkansas Highway 59 South.

Only voters who live in Ward 2 can vote in the election. Ward 2 encompasses the northeast section of the city.

If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote, the two candidates who receive the most votes will face off in an election May 20.

The Ward 2 seat became vacant after the death of James Fuller Nov. 19.

The candidate who wins the election will serve out the remainder of Fuller's term, which is set to expire Dec. 31.
