Dogwood Festival pageant set for April 26

Entries for the 2014 Miss Dogwood Festival Pageant will be accepted until Saturday.

The pageant will be held during the Dogwood Festival from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 26, in downtown Siloam Springs.

This is the sixth year for the fundraising pageant to be held during the Dogwood Festival, according to Robin Ledbetter, executive director of Miss Heart of the Ozarks and Miss Dogwood Scholarship Association. Although held by the same organization, the Miss Dogwood Festival Pageant is a separate event from the Miss Dogwood Pageant -- a qualifying event for Miss Arkansas -- held in February, she explained.

The majority of funds raised by the Miss Dogwood Festival Pageant will be donated to the Children's Miracle Network, Ledbetter said.

The pageant will include the following categories;

• Tiny -- ages 0-3 years

• Little -- ages 4-6 years

• Junior -- 7-9 years

• Princess -- 10-12 years

• Teen -- 13-15 years

• Miss -- 16-21 years.

Entry fees for the contest are $25. Contestants can enter an optional photogenic category for an additional $5 fee. The competition will include a casual wear division, a most photogenic division based on a 5x7 photograph and a fan favorite division. Audience members may cast their votes for their favorite contestant in each age division for $1 per vote.

Entry forms are available on the pageant website, www.heartoftheozarks.weebly.com. For more information email [email protected] or call 479-409-0161.
