Jeff Della Rosa/Siloam Sunday Sager Creek was lowered so city crews could install larger pipe for the fountains. Work was completed Wednesday, and on Thursday the creek started to fill up.

City crews replaced some pipe and replaced heads to the fountains in Sager Creek last week.

The creek was lowered to replace 2-inch pipe with 4-inch pipe to supply water to the fountains, said Steve Gorszczyk, water and wastewater manager. The hope is the creek won't need to be lowered to clean out the pipes again. The lines were becoming packed with sedimentation. A clean out was put at an the end of the line.

On Monday, crews started installing the new pipe. The new pipe was installed from the Mount Olive Street bridge upstream to the east.

All the fountain heads, including the ones downstream from the bridge, are being replaced.

Crews completed the work Wednesday, he said.

The creek started to fill back up Thursday. Some of the new fountain heads will be replace after it is filled up.

"By Monday it should be full," Gorszczky said. "The creek will be nice."

The new fountain heads will change how the fountains spray. The water will fan out and include a center spray.
