St. Mary's yard sale

St. Mary's Catholic Church men's group will hold its summer semiannual yard sale in the church hall on Saturday. The sale will open at 7:30 a.m. and close at noon. Markdowns of items unsold will occur throughout the morning. For more information, contact Gerry Donner at 524-5550.

Children's Choir School

The Grace Children's Choir School -- GCCS -- is open for enrollment. GCCS, under the direction of Terri Wubbena, will hold an informative meeting on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m. The GCCS will meet during the 2014-2015 academic year at Grace Episcopal Church on Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m. starting Sept. 8. Core Essentials Classes

Harvard Avenue Baptist Church will be hosting "Core Essentials" -- an adult education hour on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. A variety of courses relating to the Christian life will be offered, including: How to Study the Bible, Spiritual Disciplines, What Is the Church?, New Testament Survey, Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, and Disciples Making Disciples. There are no fees for the courses and all are welcome. Call the church office at 479-524-5176 with any questions. Classes will begin on Sunday, Aug. 17 and will end on Dec. 28.

Children of the Day

Community Christian Fellowship will host "Children of the Day," a new Beth Moore nine-week Bible Study starting Sept. 10. The class will meet from 9 to 11 a.m., and will be studying I and II Thessalonians. Childcare is available. For more information and registration, call 501-425-5917.

Ladies Bible study

Women are invited to a Bible study on Exodus titled Journey to Freedom. It will be held weekly 9 to 11 a.m., Thursdays, beginning Sept. 4. The class is taught by Laura Macfarlan and will be held at First Baptist Church. A nursery and classes for children are provided. Appreciation service

The Pointe Ministry will host a Farewell and Appreciation Service from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, Aug. 24, for Tony and Missaha Nichols in recognition of 13 years of faithful ministry to their church body and community. Friends and family, members and former members are invited. Please bring a card of appreciation for a card shower, and bring your own lunch to join us after the service for a public time of sharing memories and fun with Tony and Missaha.

Grace on Tap

Grace Episcopal Church will host "Grace on Tap" from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays this summer at 28 Springs (100 E University St). This weekly gathering will meet in the event room. Grace Episcopal Church

Grace Episcopal Church has Sunday Holy Eucharist services at 9 and 11:15 a.m., Christian Formation classes for all ages at 10 a.m., and Wednesday Holy Eucharist and Healing service at 12:10 p.m. each week. Hope's Kitchenat Saint Mary

Hope's Kitchen at Saint Mary Catholic Church provides free meals from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the fourth Friday of each month. The homeless, needy, elderly, unemployed, lonely and any families with children are invited to the free home-cooked meal. The church is located at 1998 U.S. Highway 412 next to 2 B's Auto Sales. Book sale

The Tattered Page is having a buy two, get one free sale of used Christian books. The Tattered Page also accepts donations of books. The Tattered Page is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All sales support Kind at Heart Ministries, which helps those in need, especially widows, elderly and disabled by sharing hope through kindness. For more information, call 479-373-6281.
