7th-grade boys rout Prairie Grove

PRAIRIE GROVE -- The Siloam Springs seventh-grade boys basketball team turned a close game in the first half into a blowout Wednesday.

The Panthers outscored Prairie Grove 32-1 in the second half to earn a 44-11 victory. The Panthers led 12-10 at halftime.

"It was a close game through the first half," said head coach Conlan Efurd. "It was a back and forth game. I was real pleased with our defense in the second half. We made some solid plays that turned into a lot of transition points."

The Panthers improved to 9-0 with the victory.

Gage Weaver led Siloam Springs with 12 points, while Drew Vachon and Jordan Stewart each scored eight points. Thad Wright contributed six points, while Ethan Barton had four and Carlson Wlekinski had two.

In the boys B game, Siloam Springs defeated Prairie Grove 23-12. Reed Willbanks led the Panthers with 12 points, while Tanner Garcia had nine points and Dawson Smith two.

Girls

The seventh-grade girls improved to 7-2 overall Wednesday with an 11-2 win against Prairie Grove.

Madison Pharr led the Lady Panthers with five points, while Megan Jackson, Jael Harried and Maci Davis each scored two points.

The girls B team lost in overtime 7-6, dropping their record to 5-1.

Hannah Birkes led with four points, while Bridget Ponticello scored two points.

Up next

Both teams are off until Jan. 7 when they host Elkins.
