Investigation continues into Christmas murder

A shooting that occurred over the Christmas holiday remains under investigation by the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

At 10 a.m., Friday, law enforcement received a call that a 55-year-old man, identified as Tim Meehan Sr., was shot in his home at 15554 Airport Road east of Siloam Springs.

The time of the shooting is not yet known, but deputy Keshia Guyll said it occurred between 10 p.m. on Christmas and 10 a.m. Friday morning, but it is likely that it happened on Christmas.

Police have not identified the shooter, but said that they have a person of interest in the case.

"Several people came and went and some were family and friends," Guyll said.

She said that there were people who spent the night on Christmas.

Weapons were also found in the home, and police are comparing those to the type of weapon used in the incident.

Police did not identify the murder weapon.

"We sent them off for ballistic testings and his body was sent to the state Crime Lab," Guyll said. "We expect results in a few days -- hopefully we will have them by Friday."
