Siloam Springs volleyball goes 5-1 in LR Spikefest

LITTLE ROCK -- The Siloam Springs volleyball team went 6-1 and advanced to the semifinals of the Gold bracket on Saturday at the Little Rock Spikefest.

The Lady Panthers (8-3) went undefeated in pool play. In their opening match against Cutter Morning Star, the Lady Panthers won 25-3, 25-12. The Lady Panthers played their entire junior varsity lineup in the second game. Madison Cooper led with three kills, while Andrea Lowry and Ashlynn Price each had two kills. Lowry had seven assists, while Meg Gray had two assists. Sierra Cifuentes had four aces and four digs, while Arika Johnson and Sidney Avery each had two aces.

The Lady Panthers beat Episcopal Collegiate 25-15, 25-22 in game two. Mirna Torres led with five kills, while Baily Cameron had four kills and Johnson four kills and eight assists. Laura Salley and Haley Stewart each had three kills, while Cifuentes had two kills and 14 digs. Taylor Gay led with 17 digs. Cameron had three aces and two block assists. Stewart had four block assists while Salley had two block assists.

Siloam Springs beat Sylvan Hills 25-23, 25-19 in its final pool play match. Cameron led with seven kills, one ace and four block assists. Johnson had five kills, 10 assists, two aces, three block assists and one solo block. Cifuentes had four kills, while Torres had three kills and Salley two kills. Avery had 10 assists, while Gay had four aces and 10 digs and Madisyn Fullerton eight digs.

The Lady Panthers opened Gold bracket play against Pulaski Academy and won 25-18, 25-19. Cameron led with nine kills, two aces, four digs and two block assists. Salley and Johnson each had four kills, while Johnson added seven assists. Cifuentes had three kills, four digs and two block assists. Torres had two kills, while Avery had 13 assists and five digs. Gay led with 15 digs and Fullerton had two aces and five digs.

The win against Pulaski Academy advanced the Lady Panthers to the quarterfinals, where they beat Rogers Heritage 25-20, 25-19. Cameron and Torres each led with seven kills, while Cameron had an ace, three digs and four block assists. Cifuentes, Salley and Johnson each had three kills, while Avery had two kills. Gay led with 17 digs, while Cifuentes had two aces, 14 digs and two block assists. Johnson chipped in seven digs and a block assist. Avery had six digs and a block assist.

The Lady Panthers' run ended in the semifinals against 7A/6A-Central foe Conway, who had just beaten Russellville to advance to the semifinals. Conway took the opening game 25-16, but Siloam Spring won game two 25-18. Conway won the tiebreaker game 15-6.

Cameron led with nine kills to go with five digs and three solo blocks. Johnson had four kills and five assists, while Cifuentes had four kills and nine digs. Avery had 11 assists and nine digs. Stewart, Torres and Gay each had one kill. Gay had an ace and led with 21 digs. Fullerton chipped in four digs, while Salley had two block assists and Torres one solo block and one block assist.

The Lady Panthers returned to action on Tuesday at home against 7A/6A-Central Conference foe Greenwood. Results were not available at presstime. Siloam Springs plays a league match at Russellville on Thursday.
