Letter to the Editor

Appreciation for support

The Siloam Springs Fallen Soldiers Memorial committee would like to thank local businesses, the Siloam Springs Police Department, Fire Department and DEM, Battery B 2nd 142nd Field Artillery, and judges Jason Billups, Casey Kelly, Greg Neely and John Turner for supporting our Sept. 6 fundraising event.

Without your support and dedication, this event would not have been possible. Special thanks to the Siloam Springs public school system and their employees for the use of the school grounds and auditorium.

Two special guests were state Representative-elect Robin Lundstrum and state Sen. Jon Woods. Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy a wonderful and funny music/comedy act (P. Nutt and Ponytail show) presented by the George Brothers of Branson. This group is known for supporting veterans events. If you weren't there, you missed a fun time for a worthy cause.

The Siloam Springs Fallen Soldier Memorial will be a reminder to our community of the sacrifices that 36 of our own veterans gave for our freedom. It is with honor, respect and gratitude that your local veterans organizations (Levi Douthit Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1674 and American Legion Siloam Post 29) are working diligently to see this memorial come to completion.
