The Siloam Springs boys golf team wasn't at its best Monday afternoon against Greenwood.

A little bit of fatigue and emotion might have played a large role.

The Panthers played their final home match of the season at Siloam Springs Country Club just two days removed after a long weekend trip to Jonesboro, where they played in the Hurricane Invitational on Saturday.

On Monday, Greenwood carded a team score of 160, beating the Panthers by one stroke.

Siloam Springs coach Michael Robertson said the Panthers were wound up with it being senior day, and the Panthers' three seniors in their five-man playing field turned in the five highest scores.

Robertson also said the Panthers were tired from their recent trip.

"We don't lose very often at home," Robertson said. "I couldn't tell you the last time we did. We gave away a lot of strokes on the greens. It seemed like the greens played very fast today, and I don't know if we came back expecting them to be very slow."

Junior golfer Aaron Jones shot a low-round 35 for medalist honors, and freshman Cody Beyer added a 38 for Siloam Springs. But senior Brandon Coale shot a 40, and seniors Brendan Lee and Cody Casebeer each shot 48.

Greenwood, meanwhile, was led by Christian Griffith's 38 and Jake Herrell's 39. Ryan Reagan shot a 41 for the Bulldogs, and Nathan Munday had a 42, Ben Reisberg rounded out Greenwood's scoring with a 47.

In junior varsity action, Hunter Tilley shot a 42, Noah Karp 43, Mitchell Baker 48, Solo Jackson 49, Kyle Comiskey 50, Tucker Gambill 50, Will Gambill 53, Josh Hunt 56 and Jaxon Brown 68.

It was the final home match for seniors Coale, Casebeer, Lee, Tucker Gambill, Baker and Tilley.

"There was some emotion to it on the boys side," Robertson said. "We've got six seniors. For some of them this was their last match and all of them their last home match. There was some emotion in that. We didn't play like we were capable of."

In girls action, Greenwood defeated the Lady Panthers 134-141.

Lexie Adams shot a 43 to lead the Lady Bulldogs, while Sydney Gamble shot 45, Olivia Austin and Arabelle Marvin each shot 46 and Molly Lynch 56.

Bailey Turner led the Lady Panthers with a 45, while Amanda Glass and Brinkley Beever each shot 48. Halle Hevener and Allie Tolliver each shot 58.

Hurricane Invitational

The Panthers shot a team score of 313 at the Hurricane Invitational, finishing fifth out 13 teams on Saturday at Jonesboro Country Club. Host Jonesboro shot a team score of 285 to take first place.

Jonesboro Country Club is the site of the Class 6A Boys State Tournament, which will be held Oct. 6-7.

Brandon Coale, Cody Beyer and Aaron Jones each shot 77 for the Panthers, while Brendan Lee shot 82 and Cody Casebeer shot 83

"I told the guys I was real excited," Robertson said regarding the Hurricane Invitational. "It was an awesome event and really cool to be a part of it. There were 93 kids playing it and people were everywhere.

"We learned a lot by playing there. We shot a good score, especially for not having ever been there."

The girls team, which will play their state tournament at Greystone Country Club in Cabot next week, also played in the tournament.

Brinkley Beever shot a 101, while Halle Hevener shot 117, Alli Tolliver 122 and Bailey Turner 144.
