School has begun and the fall season is here

However, before we leave summer, I want to give you an update of the Summer Reading Program. We had 423 children and teens sign up for the reading program this summer, and 304 of these registrants read three hours or more. We had 121 children and teens read 20 hours or more.

Jaxon West read 99.25 hours for his age group, Charles Raith read 94.25 hours for his age group, Eliot Posey read 194.50 for his age group and Rachel Thompson read 146.50 hours for her age group. Altogether the participants read 6,786.50 hours. Great job to all of these participants!

We had 48 programs for children, teens, and families with total participation of 2,147 for the summer. We also had 11 programs for adults and had 108 total participants. Forty-one businesses, organizations and individuals contributed goods or money towards the summer reading program. Thank you to all of these sponsors! Without them, the Summer Reading Program would not have been possible.

Children and teens, you still have the opportunity to complete a checklist having to do with your reading during August. The checklist is available at the front desk. Children and teens ages 3-18 have through Aug. 31 to turn in their checklist and receive a prize.
