Eighth-grade boys fall short against Ramay

FAYETTEVILLE -- The Siloam Springs eighth-grade basketball team went toe-to-toe with Fayetteville Ramay on Thursday night, but the Panthers came up just short in a 34-32 loss to the Indians.

The Panthers (2-2) led 14-13 at halftime, but Ramay outscored Siloam Springs 21-18 in the second half.

Thad Wright led the Panthers with 14 points, while Ransom Van Asche had seven, Drew Vachon and Gage Weaver each with four, Carson Wleklinski with two and Jordan Stewart with one.

Girls

Ramay won the eighth-grade girls game 44-23 as the Lady Panthers dropped to 2-2 overall.

The Lady Indians jumped out to a big 19-4 lead after the first quarter and led 27-6 at halftime. Ramay led 36-13 going into the fourth quarter.

Jael Harried led Siloam Springs with 10 points, while Shelby Johnson had six, Kacey Pettit, Alexsis Fortner and Jenna Rackleff two each and Brooke Henderson with one point.

Both eighth-grade teams return to action on Monday at Bentonville Fulbright. The girls game is at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys game at 6:45 p.m.
