Panthers celebrate 2014 football season

Graham Thomas/Herald-Leader Siloam Springs senior tight end/linebacker David Goodman was the recipient of the 2014 Brandon Burlsworth Award for the Siloam Springs football team. The award, which is given to a senior for every football-playing high school in the state, honors the late Burlsworth, a former walk-on lineman for the Arkansas Razorbacks who went on to become an All-American and get drafted in 1999 by the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. Eleven days after being drafted, Burlsworth was tragically killed in a car accident.

Former Arkansas quarterback Casey Dick was the guest speaker at the annual Panther football banquet held Saturday at the Cypress Barn. Dick, a native of Allen, Texas, started at quarterback at times in each of his four years at Arkansas -- 2005 to 2008. He is now a teacher/coach in the Bentonville School District.
