Panthers and Lady Panthers swim to victory

The Siloam Springs swimming and diving teams competed in their final home meet of the year Monday at the Hub White Pool inside the Walton Lifetime Health Complex at John Brown University.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers each won first place, and overall combined for a first place score of 1,075.

The Panthers finished first overall with a team score of 618, besting Springdale 250, Fayetteville 166, Springdale Har-Ber 153, Rogers 139, Clarksville 85 and Rogers Heritage 44.

The Lady Panthers had 457 points and defeated Springdale 412, Fayetteville 309, Rogers 214, Clarksville 77 and Rogers Heritage 34.

Siloam Springs had eight first place finishes on the day, including in the girls 200-yard medley relay, where the team of Clair Gryder, Catherine Donner, Kaylee O'Hare and Shannon Kretzer placed first with a time of 2:09.53 and scored 40 points. The team of Ada Thomas, Hannah Markovich, Heather Casteel and Caroline Farine placed third at 2:24.93 and scored 32 points. The team of Whitney Bunch, Kylyn Ruede, Olivia Schaap and Chandler Losh placed sixth at 2:51.89 and scored 26 points.

The boys 200-yard medley relay team of Benjamin Davis, Brittan Butler, Eduardo Suarez and Drew McWhorter placed first with a time of 1:53.04 and scored 40 points. The team of Ryke Beever, Jackson Noll, Hayden Moore and Stephen Grant placed second with a time of 1:59.10 and scored 34 points. The team of Chase Kruger, Zachary Becan, Benjamin Schaap, and Jonathan Little placed third at 2:10.49 and scored 32 points. The team of Bobby Norwood, Christian Torres, Nick Woodard and Aaron Jones placed fifth with a time of 2:30.61 and scored 28 points.

In the girls 200-yard freestyle, Amanda Glass placed fourth overall and scored 15 points with a time of 2:31.54. Donner was fifth at 2:36.59 and scored 14 points.

In the boys 200-yard freestyle, Little placed fifth overall at 2:28.19 and scored 14 points.

In the boys 200-yard individual medley, Kruger placed second at 2:46.93 and scored 17 points.

Kretzer placed third in the girls 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.65 and scored 16 points. Farine was fifth and scored 14 points with a time of 29.98, while Gryder was eighth at 30.71 and scored 11 points, Thomas was 10th at 31.08 and scored seven points, Markovich 12th at 31.51 and scored five points, and Bunch 24th at 42.10.

In the boys 50-yard freestyle, McWhorter placed second overall with a time of 24.97 and scored 17 points, while Beever was fourth at 25.39 and scored 15 points, Noll fifth at 25.55 and scored 14 points, Moore eighth at 25.96 and scored 11 points, Benjamin Schaap 12th at 27.73 and scored five points, Woodard 16th at 30.37 and scored 1 point, and Christian Torres 17th at 31.62.

Suarez placed fifth overall in the boys 100-yard butterfly and scored 14 points with a time of 1:05.03.

Kretzer was third in the girls 100-yard freestyle at 1:02.31 and scored 16 points.

Butler placed fourth in the boys 100-yard freestyle at 55.56 and scored 15 points. Davis was sixth at 56.35 and scored 13 points.

In the girls 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Glass, Casteel, Donner and Farine placed third overall with a time of 2:03.48 and scored 32 points. The team of Thomas, Markovich, Olivia Schaap and Mercedes Thompson placed fifth at 2:12.22 and scored 28 points, and the team of Ruede, Losh, O'Hare and Bunch placed ninth at 2:19.94 and scored 18 points.

In the boys 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Suarez, Grant, Little and Noll placed first with a time of 1:44.66 and scored 40 points. The team of Beever, Jordan Norberg, Benjamin Schaap and Moore placed second at 1:45.91 and scored 34 points, while the team of Kruger, Norwood, Torres and Woodard placed sixth at 2:00.00 and scored 26 points.

In the girls 100-yard backstroke, Gryder placed fourth at 1:17.34 and scored 15 points, while Casteel was fifth at 1:17.76 and scored 14 points, Losh ninth at 1:33.88 and scored nine points, Olivia Schaap 12th at 1:45.19 and scored five points, Ruede 13th at 1:46.67 and scored four points and Bunch 16th at 1:55.13 and scored one point.

Butler placed first in the boys 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.56 and scored 20 points, while Davis was third at 1:05.59 and scored 16 points, and Kruger ninth at 1:19.26 and scored nine points.

Moore placed second in the boys 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:17.34 and scored 17 points. Norwood was third at 1:23.37 and scored 16 points, while Becan was fifth at 1:32.32 and scored 14 points.

In the girls 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Kretzer, Farine, Gryder and O'Hare placed first overall with a time of 3:48.06 and scored 40 points. The team of Casteel, Glass, Markovich and Donner placed fourth at 4:53.34 and scored 30 points. The team of Olivia Schaap, Losh, Ruede and Thomas was fifth at 5:13.76, scoring 28 points.

In the boys 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Butler, Suarez, McWhorter and Davis placed first overall with a time of 3:52.34 and scored 40 points. The team of Beever, Little, Benjamin Schaap and Noll placed second with a time of 4:05.90 and scored 34 points. The team of Norberg, Torres, Woodard and Norwood placed fourth at 4:38.31 and scored 30 points.

In the girls 1-meter diving, Glass took first place with a score of 170 and scored 20 points. Madison Spence was second with a score of 161.45 and scored 17 points.

In the boys 1-meter diving, Jordan McWhorter placed first with a score of 156.2 and scored 20 points. Drew McWhorter placed second with a score of 153.45 and scored 17 points. Aaron Jones placed fourth with a score of 145.35 and scored 15 points.
