Oklahoma teams continue postseason runs

KANSAS, Okla. -- The Kansas girls basketball team defeated Westville 68-44 on Saturday in the Oklahoma Class 3A Area II District 5 championship played at J.O. Jones Gymansium.

With the win, the Lady Comets advance to the Class 3A Area II Region Tournament to be held this week.

Kansas will play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against Meeker at Haskell in the opening round, with the winner advancing to tournament finals at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and securing a berth in the Area Tournament next week.

If the Lady Comets lose Thursday, they'll have to win at 6:30 p.m. Friday and at 1:30 p.m. Saturday to keep their season alive. Both consolation bracket games will be held at Verdigris.

The Kansas boys also defeated Westville 63-46 on Saturday in the district tournament.

The Comets also play Meeker at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the regional tournament with the winner advancing to the finals at 8 p.m. on Saturday and automatically qualifying for the area tournament.

The loser of Thursday's game much win at 8 p.m. Friday and at 3 p.m. on Saturday to stay alive. Both consolation bracket games will be at Verdigris.

Oklahoma Class 2A

CHOUTEAU, Okla. -- The Colcord Lady Hornets were defeated 70-37 by Chouteau-Mazie in the finals of the Class 2A Area II District 8 Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Hornets will still play this week in the Area II Region Tournament, however they must win three straight games to keep their season alive.

Colcord will play at 1:30 p.m. Thursday against Drumright at Skiatook. If the Lady Hornets win Thursday, they'll play at 1:30 p.m. Friday and, if they win Friday, they'll play against at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Colcord boys were defeated 66-35 by Chouteau-Mazie on Saturday in the district finals. Just like the Lady Hornets, the Hornets will need to win three straight games to keep their season alive.

Colcord plays at 3 p.m. on Thursday against Cashion at Skiatook. If the Hornets win Thursday, they'll play again at 3 p.m. on Friday, and if they win Friday, they'll again at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Oklahoma Class A

PRAGUE, Okla. -- The Oaks Lady Warriors kept their season alive Saturday by defeating Porum 45-39 to win the consolation bracket of the Class A Area II Region Tournament.

Oaks now advances to the Area Tournament, where it will play Frontier at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lady Warriors need to win Thursday and also on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. to advance to the Class A State Tournament.
