30 Years Ago: 'I Wonder'

From the Herald and Democrat in 1965

The Panthers ended up their week in fine fashion here with a 67 to 36 win over the Bentonville Tigers. The game was never in doubt as the Panthers led all the way.

High scorers for Siloam Springs were Robert Barnett and Ronnie Reeve with 18 points each. Steve Carlson was next with 8 points. Alan Beck paced the Tigers with 11.

The B game was much like the varsity encounter with the Panther B-teamers building up a big lead and coasting in with a 39-34 victory. David Bunnell led Siloam with 11 points. He was followed by Dale Akins with 6 counters.

I Wonder

I wonder as God looks down from

His throne above

What He thinks of this world He created

With such love?

When He sees the lying, cheating

and the stealing,

He must be overcome with such a

sad feeling.

When He sees mankind turning to

drugs and alcohol,

He must be wondering why, to

Him they will not call.

I wonder, when He sees the

homeless and the old

Being pushed aside by greedy men

in favor of riches and gold;

Does He regret His creations so

beautiful, great and rare?

Does He wonder why there are so few

that really care?

Yes, He sees it all, all the lust and

all the greed.

Yet He patiently waits for us in

our time of need.

Somewhere mankind seems to

have lost the way

Giving in to life's pressures and

trying to survive in this world today.

We had better stop and think,

get our heads on straight;

Because I wonder just how much longer

He will wait?

Community Blood Centers of the Ozarks provided area hospitals with blood in record amounts. In 2004, over 62,500 units of red blood cells were provided to the 37 hospitals that use products provided by CBCO donors. That figure represented a 4 percent increase over the previous year, and an 18 percent increase since 2000.

Two new monthly records were set in 2004. In January 5,701 units were transfused, topped by 5,946 units in April of the same year. The average monthly transfusion rate was just over 5,200 units. Every year since CBCO's inception in 1995 transfusion rates increased for blood provided by CBCO donors.
