SSYB teams win at districts

It was a successful weekend of baseball for several of Siloam Springs Youth Baseball's teams participating in North Arkansas Cal Ripken District Tournaments throughout the region.

The District 4/5 6-year-old T-Ball Tournament was held locally at James Butts Baseball Complex on Saturday and Sunday, and the Siloam Springs All-Stars won that tournament. They'll advance to the North Arkansas State Tournament held this weekend in Fort Smith.

The 8-year-old Maroon team won the District 4 championship in Springdale and will advance to the North Arkansas State Tournament held July 3 in Jonesboro.

The 12-year-old All-Stars, also playing in the 60-foot tournament in Springdale, won a pair of games to take first place in their tournament. The 12-year-old All-Stars rallied from a 4-0 deficit to beat Bentonville 11-6 on Saturday and then scored 13 unanswered runs on Sunday to defeat Fayetteville 13-3. The 12-year-olds will now play July 3 at Osceola in the North Arkansas State Tournament.

Also playing this past weekend were the 7-year-olds and 8-year-olds, who lost in district play in Springdale.

The 9-year-olds and 10-year-olds also lost in district play in Berryville.
