Blood drive

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital will host a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks Bloodmobile that will be in the hospital parking lot at 603 N. Progress Ave.

CBCO has issued a code yellow alert for A Negative and O Negative blood types.

"There is currently less than a two-day supply of this type on hospital shelves and donations are needed immediately," according to a CBCO press release. "Donors to CBCO provide all of the blood for patients at 37 area hospitals. On average, a transfusion takes place every seven minutes. It takes around 230 donations each day to meet the area's blood needs."

To be eligible to give blood, you must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and present a valid photo ID. For more information, call (800) 280-5337 or visit www.cbco.org.
