SILOAM SPRINGS -- The Garden in Siloam Springs held its inaugural Sliced and Diced Competition Saturday at the Community Building.

The Garden held the event in partnership with Bridges to Wellness.

More than 70 people participated despite the snowy weather. The competition included two rounds of cooking, one for an appetizer and one for an entree. Each of the three chefs received help from four audience members who served as sous chefs. Ingredients were revealed to the chefs at the event Saturday.

Each round had 10 judges who were selected from the audience after they correctly answered a food trivia question.

Each chef, sous chef and judge went home with a bag of ingredients used during the competition so they could recreate the meals at home.

The Garden in Siloam Springs is applying for its nonprofit status and is raising money to build a community garden behind Grace Episcopal Church at 617 N. Mount Olive St. It launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money. Contributions can be made by visiting www.kickstarter.com then searching "The Garden in Siloam Springs."

The Big Build Event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 28. The community is invited to help build the garden.
