BRYANT -- The Siloam Springs boys soccer team remained winless on the 2015 season Friday after a 1-0 loss at Bryant to open 7A/6A-Central Conference play.

The loss won't affect the Panthers' playoff seeding as it was a game between the 7A Hornets and 6A Panthers.

"It was a hard-fought game," said Siloam Springs coach Chuck Jones. "We made one mistake in the back early and allowed them to score. For most of the game though I thought the boys gave great effort and played with a lot of heart. We just couldn't get a break to go our way, and we never really were the beneficiaries of many of the calls, and we let it affect us a little bit too much.

In three varsity games, the Panthers (0-3, 0-1) have been held to just two goals -- both by Ricardo Aguilar.

The Lady Panthers suffered their first loss of the season in blowout fashion against the Lady Hornets.

"We came out extremely flat and not very aggressive," Jones said. "I felt like we were a little bit intimidated. In the second half we played much more aggressive and with a purpose. We had some opportunities to score but just couldn't capitalize. It's never fun to lose, but if we learn from our mistakes we can come out a better team in the end."

Both teams are off for spring break. The Panthers are scheduled to compete in the Harrison ReMax Cup on April 4. Both teams will host Greenwood on April 7 for a 7A/6A-Central Conference game between 6A schools.
