BRYANT -- The Siloam Springs baseball team lost both games of a 7A/6A-Central Conference doubleheader Friday as defending 7A state champion Bryant swept the Panthers 5-0 and 15-0.

In game one, Bryant ace right-hander Blaine Knight, a University of Arkansas signee, blanked the Panthers for seven innings with nine strikeouts.

Knight (3-0) only allowed two Panther hits -- both by Zac Bolstad. The Hornets, meanwhile scored a run in the third, two in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Siloam Springs pitching held the Hornets to just three hits, but Bryant took advantage of seven walks and four Panther errors. Senior left-hander Raiff Beever (0-2) took the loss for the Panthers. Bolstad and Chance Junkerrman each worked in relief for the Panthers.

The Hornets (7-0, 2-0) completed the sweep with the blowout win in game two. The Hornets scored four runs in the first inning and four more in the second to take an early 8-0 lead. Three Hornet pitchers combined to throw a five-inning no-hitter. Chandler Cook (0-2) took the loss for the Panthers.
