More than 1,000 attend ER Fair and Expo

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital hosted its third annual ER Kids Fair & Health Expo on Saturday, May 2, on the hospital grounds -- 603 N. Progress Ave. This year more than 1,000 people attended this free family event.

Some of the day's events included a health expo; a teddy bear clinic in the SSRH emergency room; safety experts; emergency services vehicles including a helicopter children could tour; a fingerprinting station from Siloam Springs Police Department; an "Operation" station in the health expo tent; bounce houses; a tricycle obstacle course with safety education and more. Nickelodeon's "Dora the Explorer" also made a special visit at the event.

New this year was the mobile Kohl's Fire Safety House. An educational tool from Arkansas Children's Hospital, the safety house helps teach children how to respond in the event of a house fire. Members of Siloam Springs Fire Department personnel were on-site to guide children through the house in small groups to help kids learn about smoke detectors, two-ways out, special meeting places and the importance of not hiding during a fire.
