Siloam Springs Regional Hospital was named one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation in its size category for its safe and quality patient care.

The SafeCare Group ranked SSRH 52 out of 1,088 hospitals with 100 beds or fewer for the 2014-2015 year. The ranking puts the hospital in the top 5 percent of its size category, according to Kevin Clement, hospital chief executive officer.

The SafeCare Group gathers government safety and quality data submitted by hospitals across the country, according to Cathy Davis, SSRH marketing director. The top 100 SafeCare hospitals were selected based on the highest overall hospital performance scores in three classifications -- efficiency, patient safety and quality.

Clement explained the ranking means that data shows that SSRH is using evidence-based care that leads to better quality outcomes.

"The first priority at our hospital is our patients and safety," said Maria Wleklinski, chief nursing officer. "Our hospital's department managers meet regularly to discuss safety, sharing their safety success stories and creating solutions. Patient satisfaction scores also continue to rise. Our staff works hard to provide quality, personalized care to our patients and we're continually looking for opportunities to improve on that every day."

Two other Arkansas hospitals in the 100 bed or smaller category were recognized -- Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden ranked 90, and Magnolia Hospital in Magnolia ranked 97.

The 100 SafeCare Hospital list was first published in 2013. It also evaluates hospitals in the 100- to 400-bed size category and the 400-and-above size category.

SSRH has 73 licensed beds and 42 private rooms. It offers inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency care, surgery, intensive care, obstetrics, diagnostic services and rehabilitation.

"It's really an honor to work with a group of doctors and staff so focused every day on patient safety and quality care," Clement said. "That focus and attention to detail has allowed us to achieve this recognition."
