Town & Country Supermarket advertised the following products on sale: Always Good USDA inspected grade A hen turkeys, 39 cents a pound; Honeysuckle white turkeys for 49 cents a pound; Swift's premium duck, 49 cents a pound; Libby's canned pumpkin, 10 cents a can; Always Good butter, 1 lb. pkg., 69 cents; mince or pumpkin pies, 29 cents each; giant-size cascade, 47 cents; No. 1 russet potatoes, 49 cents for a 10-pound bag; 1-lb can of Cain's coffee, 59 cents; 3 10-oz. pkgs. of Bespakt frozen strawberries for $1; 2 6-oz. pkgs. of Guittard's chocolate morsels, 29 cents; 4 cans of Shurfine cranberry sauce, for 89 cents; and a Samsonite automatic electric can-opener for $4.99 with a $5 purchase.

M/Sgt. Karl B. Mounger retired from the military after 30 years of service. He joined the Air Force immediately after graduating from Siloam Springs High School in 1955. He served four years as a Russian Language Specialist. After discharge from the Air Force, he enlisted in the Army National Guard in Siloam Springs. He served in this unit six years. He then enlisted in the Air National Guard at Fort Smith, Ark. He served the remainder of his time in this unit as an Aeromedical Technician and Explosives Safety Specialist.

A going away party honored the many years of service on the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce's Dogwood Festival committee by two committee members. Brad DeZurik received a plaque from chamber board chair Ron Mooney, he served about 27 years, and fellow honoree Gary Ward served about 17 years on the committee.
