7th-grade sweeps Elkins

The Siloam Springs seventh-grade girls basketball teams started off the season Wednesday, Nov. 18, with two victories over Elkins at Siloam Springs Middle School.

The Maroon team (1-0) turned an 11-10 halftime lead into a 31-23 victory. Julia Jackson led the team with 15 points, including a 3-pointer that helped swing momentum in the Lady Panthers' favor. Mia Hevener added eight points, while Jadyn Still, Sydney Moorman, Riley Carr and Makenna Thomas each scored two points.

The White team won 12-6. Six players -- Hattie Price, Jordan Rush, Quincy Efurd, Anna Watkins, Jaedyn Soucie and Maggie Torres -- each scored two points.

Seventh-grade boys

Camden Collins hit the game-winning shot in overtime as the seventh-grade boys Maroon team won in a 28-26 victory at Panther Arena.

Landon Ward led the Panthers with 20 points, while Trey Whorton had four, Collins two and Brock Soderquist two.

The White team defeated Elkins 26-12.

Meagen Soucie and Alex Crafton each scored six points, while Gavin Gordova, Jackson Ford and Cole Ellis each had four. Mason Clayton added two points for the Panthers.
