JBU runs well in Cowboy Jamboree

STILLWATER, Okla. -- For the second race in a row, a pair of freshmen runners led the John Brown cross country teams, this time at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree on Sept. 26, where the men placed 8th and the women notched 13th in a field of 20 teams.

Carly Coney finished 44th in the field of 153 runners with a team-best 5,000-meter time of 21:39.9.

Freshman Tori Kraft shaved off four seconds from her first meet, posting a 21:56.8 time to nab 54th place overall.

Freshman Regan Roth bettered her first time of the season by 14 seconds, capturing 56th place in a time of 22:00.7.

The ladies finished with a team time of 1:50:24.5.

On the men's side, Josh Uzelac handed in the team's best performance and crossed the finish line of the 8,000-meter heat at the 27:35.1 mark to land 22nd place overall in the 159-runner field. Junior Levi Nordmeyer turned in a 28:08.1 time to capture 34th place while senior Kenny Crane's time of 28:33.2 was good enough for 47th place overall.

The men turned in a time of 2:22:30.1 as a team.

The Golden Eagles were scheduled to race in the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville on Saturday.
