JBU teams compete at Chile Pepper

FAYETTEVILLE -- The John Brown University cross country teams were among the near 900 runners who participated in the Chile Pepper Festival races on Saturday at the University of Arkansas' Agri Park.

The JBU men finished 22nd out of 33 teams in the small college division of the 6K (8,000-meter) run that had 466 runners. Colorado School of Mines took first place.

JBU freshman Josh Uzelac led the Golden Eagles with a 166th place finish of 26 minutes, 8.94 seconds. Junior Levi Nordmeyer was JBU's second finisher at 27:07.60, followed by senior Kenny Crane 27:20.08, sophomore Jacob Braschler 27:52.58, freshman Jacob Benjamin 27:53.63, junior Kent McDonell 28:13.26, freshman Jacob Synek 28:32.40, freshman Michael Games 28:51.58, Thomas Bearden 29:01.80 and sophomore Jacob Rodgers 451st 31:19.32.

The JBU women finished 28th out of 33 teams. A total of 436 runners participated with the University of Montevallo (Ala.) finishing first overall.

Freshman Reagan Roth led the Golden Eagles with a time of 20:22.44. Freshman Carly Coney came in next for JBU at 20:23.25, followed by sophomore Kaitlyn Collier 20:28.98, sophomore Abigail Melby 20:30.70, freshman Tori Kraft 20:37.44, sophomore Erin Haley 20:50.10, sophomore Annie Brown 21:04.62, senior Claire Greathouse 21:27.23, sophomore Jennifer Poole 21:40.43, sophomore Abigail Danley 21:47.14, freshman Haley Newcomb 22:34.42 and freshman Erin Green 424th 23:35.93.

JBU is scheduled to run again on Saturday at the University of the Ozarks Invitational in Clarksville.
