7th-grade volleyball wins debut

SPRINGDALE -- History was made Monday night as the Siloam Springs seventh-grade volleyball team -- playing in the first match in program history -- defeated Springdale Hellstern 2-1 in a match played at Springdale Central Junior High.

Having had only two weeks of practice before their first game, the Lady Panthers (1-0) came out and won game one 25-21. However, behind a strong server in game two Hellstern picked up a 25-1 victory.

The Lady Panthers responded in the game three tiebreaker with a 15-7 win.

Makenna Thomas led Siloam Springs with five aces, while Hannah Fullerton had three, Maggie Torres two and Myah Moren and Anna Watkins each with one ace.

Torres led with two kills, while Thomas, Fullerton and Camryn Kendrick each had one kill.

Up next

The Lady Panthers play a program intrasquad against the eighth-grade B team at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday at Panther Arena.
