Letter to the Editor

Teenagers apologize for being on rooftops

Editor's Note: The following letter to the editor was submitted by two teenage girls, who were caught on the roofs of downtown buildings taking pictures of downtown Siloam Springs and the sunset. Instead of pressing charges, the girls and the owner of the rooftop agreed the pair should submit a short letter to the editor to discourage other teens from getting on the rooftops.

We would like to formally apologize to Gary Gray and the Adkins family for any potential damage caused to their business.

As most of you may know, some of the rooftops downtown are easily accessible. However, they are private property. Any trespassing can and will be prosecuted.

Climbing up there weakens the roof and can cause a lot of problems such as caving in or water damage.

Teens really need to think about what they are doing and the consequences of their actions before they decide to do something that seems fun. Trespassing is a misdemeanor and will show up on your record.
