National Day of Prayer set for May 5

The Ministerial Alliance of Siloam Springs invites citizens to join with millions of Christians across the nation at noon on May 5 for the annual National Day of Prayer, to pray "Wake Up America." Dr. Tony Evans, the 2016 Honorary Chairman, has prepared a special prayer to be simultaneously read throughout the nation.

According to the National Day of Prayer website, the theme, "Wake Up America," was chosen "emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of Our Fathers in reverence for His Holy Name." Isaiah 58:1a has been chosen as the Scripture for this year: "Shout it aloud, do not hold back, Raise your voice like a trumpet."

The Siloam Springs event is hosted by First Presbyterian Church, and sponsored by the Siloam Springs Ministerial Alliance. Individuals representing churches, government, and citizens will provide prayer leadership, and all present will be invited to pray corporately. The service will start promptly at noon, on the lawn of First Presbyterian, which is located at the corner of Maxwell and Ashley streets, across the street from City Hall, and will be moved inside if weather necessitates.

The Siloam Springs Ministerial Alliance is open to all pastors and senior leaders of Christian churches and ministries in the Siloam Springs area. They meet monthly for fellowship and to implement strategies for uniting together as fellow Christians committed to helping the body of Christ fulfill the great commission. This year's co-leaders of the alliance are Wayne Thomas, from Kind at Heart Ministries, and Ron Burtraw, from The Pointe Ministries. For additional information, contact The Pointe at 479-373-6369.
