Summer program over, fall begins

Thank you to all who helped with "On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!"

The summer reading program is officially over. We had numerous kids sign up to read. We had 356 kids read three or more hours. Of these, 124 read 15 hours or more. We had a total of 2,390 participants for programs. Volunteers contributed 154 hours, and 30 businesses or entities contributed to the summer reading effort. Thank you to all of the community sponsors, volunteers, staff, parents and readers who helped make this summer successful.

Fall programming will begin Tuesday, Sept. 6. We will have movies and programs for all ages. The schedule is as follows:

• Family movies -- Mondays at 4:30 p.m.

• After School Program -- Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m.

• Pre-School Program -- Wednesdays and Thursdays 11 a.m.

• Home School Program -- Thursdays at 11 a.m.

• NEW Young Adult Program (Seventh-12th grade only) -- Thursdays at 4:30 p.m.

Coloring is for adults, too! Coloring for adults has flourished the last few years and our own Ms. Kerrie will be leading an adult program called "Coffee & Coloring" Thursday, Sept. 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room. This program is free. Come join us, have fun, relax, and express your creativity!

Adults can join us for two different book discussion groups. The Adult Reading Group is reading "I Am Malala" by Malala Yousafzai and will meet Monday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. in the meeting room. The Morning Book Club is reading "Open Season" by C.J. Box and will meet Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. in the meeting room. Copies of both books are available at the library. Please join us as we discuss these books.

Check the new book sections in the library for adults, young adults and children. There are several good selections. We also continuously get new audiobooks, DVDs, and music CDs. Also, please check Library2Go, which is our e-book service, Zinio, which is our e-magazine service, and Traveler Portal, which is the State of Arkansas database service. Links to these are available on the library's main web page.

The library can be a very valuable resource as we embark on another school year. We have many resources for school projects, knowledgeable staff, computer access, databases, and study rooms for as many as six people. The library manager is also available to proctor exams. Come check us out and let us know how we can help you with your academic endeavors.

Please visit the library's Facebook page or the library's website at http://www.siloamsprings.com/library for more information about what the library has to offer including programming. The website also has information about guidelines and policies. You have the ability to fill out a library card registration and a meeting room request form on-line. The Facebook page, the website and digital resources are available 24/7. Additionally, you can call the library at 479-524-4236 during open hours for more information.

And as always, we will see you at the library!
