Boys swimmers second, girls third at Bentonville West

BENTONVILLE -- The Siloam Springs swim teams competed Wednesday in the Bentonville West Invitational held at the Bentonville Community Center.

The Siloam Springs girls finished third overall with 241 points, behind Bentonville High 641 and Rogers 310. The Siloam Springs boys finished second with 416 points behind Bentonville 550.

Combined the boys and girls finished with 657 points behind Bentonville's 1,191 points.

"We swam awesome (Thursday) night," said head coach Stephanie Goddard. "Most swimmers improved their times or stayed right at the same time. It was a fun, quick meet. Very proud of all of our swimmers."

In the boys 200-yard freestyle, Eduardo Suarez placed eighth with a time of 2 minutes, 9.25 seconds, while Ethan Andrus took 12th at 2:40.46.

Caroline Farine took fifth place in the girls 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:56.16, while Baleigh Butler was sixth at 3:18.86.

Brittan Butler took second place in the boys 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:08.86, while Landon Cottrell was fifth at 2:22.73, Chase Kruger ninth at 2:36.25 and Lee Thompson 10th at 2:36.96.

Shayla Enlow placed 10th in the girls 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.19.

Ryke Beever placed third in the boys 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.74, while Will O'Hare was fourth at 23.78, Stephen Grant seventh at 24.36 and Hayden Moore 11th at 25.03.

Catherine Donner placed sixth in the girls 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 1:18.85.

Thompson placed sixth in the boys 100-yard butterfly at 1:04.28, while Moore was eighth at 1:06.92 and Sean Jeppsen 14th at 1:29.19.

Beever took sixth in the boys 100-yard freestyle at 54.69, while Suarez was eighth at 55.74 and Grant 10th at 56.19.

Ethan Davis placed fifth in the boys 500-yard freestyle at 7:23.79.

Chandler Losh was sixth in the girls 100-yard backstroke at 1:28.89, while Megan Rush was eighth at 1:49.12.

Brittan Butler took third in the boys 100-yard backstroke at 1:01.86, while Kruger was fifth at 1:15.86.

Britain Castagna was fifth in the girls 100-yard breaststroke at 1:35.26.

Cottrell took fourth in the boys 100-yard breaststroke at 1:10.55.

Zachary Becan took 11th in the boys 100-yard breaststroke at 1:28.06.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers are scheduled to host their first home meet of the season Wednesday in the newly remodeled Hub White Pool inside the Walton Lifetime Health Complex on the campus at John Brown University.

"We're excited for everyone to see all the renovations that have been done to the pool at John Brown University," Goddard said.
