Eighth-grader basketball teams defeat Springdale Southwest

The Siloam Springs eighth-grade girls picked up their first win of the season Monday, 53-14, against Springdale Southwest.

The Lady Panthers (1-2) raced out to a 13-2 lead after the first quarter and pulled ahead 31-6 at halftime. Siloam Springs led 47-14 going into the fourth quarter, where it outscored the Lady Cougars 6-0.

Sydney Moorman and Mia Hevener each scored 12 points to lead the Lady Panthers, while Micah Curry had nine, Jadyn Still six, Makenna Thomas and Julia Jackson each with four, Hattie Price, Maggie Torres and Quincy Efurd each with two.

The Lady Panthers return to action Thursday at home against Stilwell (Okla.) Maryetta.

Boys

Siloam Springs 37, Springdale Southwest 27

The Panthers improved to 2-1 with a 37-27 win over the Cougars.

Landon Ward led the Panthers with 22 points, while Dusty Buckner had nine, Solomon Hufford four and Jackson Ford two.

The Panthers return to action Thursday at home against Stilwell (Okla.) Maryetta.
