Sales tax up for December 2015

Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were up $68,028 in December compared to the same month last year.

Sales tax receipts were $584,584 in December of 2015, compared to $516,556 in December of the previous year, according to the January issue of City & Town Magazine.

County sales tax receipts were also up $36,586, from $223,789 in December of 2014 to $260,375 in December 2015.

The city's sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.

City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastructure, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city's general fund, public safety and the street department.

A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastructure bonds.

Other cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts were:

  • Bentonville, up $640,012 to $2.4 million
  • Eureka Springs, up $43,560 to $299,576
  • Fayetteville, up $33,158 to $3.45 million
  • Gentry, up $13,163 to $56,089
  • Lincoln, up $6,482 to $43,151
  • Rogers, up $346,646 to $2.8 million
  • Springdale, up $303,644 to $2.3 million.
