Clean sweep for both eighth-grade teams

The Siloam Springs eighth-grade girls won their fourth straight basketball game on Thursday, defeating Rogers Lingle 30-23 inside the Panther Activity Center.

The Lady Panthers (8-8) led 8-5 after the first quarter, but after a scoreless second quarter, they trailed 12-8 at halftime.

Siloam Springs outscored Lingle 11-7 in the third quarter to tie the game 19-19 going into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Panthers outscored Lingle 11-4 in the fourth quarter.

Madison Pharr led Siloam Springs with seven points, while Maddie Vaughan, Shelby Johnson and Jael Harried each scored six points. Megan Jackson chipped in four points, while Morgan Winesburg had one.

On Wednesday, the Lady Panthers defeated Springdale Lakeside 51-26 for their third straight win.

Siloam Springs led 11-2 after the first quarter, 23-11 at halftime and 39-17 going into the fourth quarter.

Pharr led the Lady Panthers with 15 points while Sydney Smith, Johnson and Harried each had six, Jenna Rackleff five, Winesburg four, Maddie Vaughan three, and Brooke Henderson, Hannah Birkes and Alexsis Fortner each with two.

Boys

The Siloam Springs eighth-grade boys raced out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, and the Panthers rolled past Rogers Lingle 35-9 for their fourth straight win.

Siloam Springs (9-7) led 10-3 after the first quarter and 21-5 at halftime. Siloam Springs pulled ahead 29-9 going into the fourth quarter.

Drew Vachon led the Panthers with eight points, while Thad Wright had six, Evan Sauer and Ransom Van Asche each with four; Tyler Sharp and Jordan Stewart each with three; Gage Weaver, Jackson Norberg and Carson Wleklinski each with two; and Luke Engle with one.

On Wednesday, the Panthers defeated Springdale Lakeside 56-28.

Siloam Springs opened up a 18-7 lead after the first quarter and 35-15 at halftime. The Panthers led 54-21 after the third quarter and the fourth was played with a running clock.

Vachon led with 18 points while Evan Sauer had 11, Thad Wright and Ransom Van Asche each with six, Jordan Stewart five, Gage Weaver four, Luke Engle, Mason Cooper and Jackson Norberg each with two.

Up next

The eighth-grade teams return to action on Monday at home against Bentonville Lincoln in the Panther Den. The boys game will be played first at 5:30 p.m. followed by the girls at 6:45 p.m. The eighth-grade teams wrap up the season on Feb. 22 at Rogers Oakdale.
