Woodland takes both eighth-grade games

Fayetteville Woodland went on big runs in the first half and the second half to defeat the Siloam Springs eighth-grade boys basketball team 56-29 on Monday night inside Panther Den.

The Cowboys outscored the Panthers 13-5 in the first quarter and pulled ahead 29-17 at halftime.

After outscoring the Panthers 15-6 in the third period, Woodland led 44-23 going into the fourth quarter.

Drew Vachon led the Panthers with eight points, while Ransom Van Asche and Thad Wright each scored six. Jordan Stewart, Gage Weaver and Dawson Smith each scored three points for the Panthers (3-4).

Girls

Woodland outscored the eighth-grade girls 18-0 in the first quarter and rolled to a 38-13 victory inside Panther Den.

Woodland led 22-7 at halftime and 32-9 entering the fourth quarter.

Jael Harried led the Lady Panthers (2-5) with five points, while Morgan Winesburg and Madison Pharr each scored four.

The eighth-grade teams host Bentonville Washington on Thursday, beginning with the girls game at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys game around 6:45 p.m.
