Norwood brothers finalists in Four-way Speech Contest

Photo submitted The Siloam Springs Rotary Club held its annual Four-Way Speech Contest at its Jan. 12 meeting. This competition is open to area high school students who are required to develop and deliver a six-minute speech that incorporates the components of the Rotarian Four-Way test. This year’s finalist were brothers Bobby and Daniel Norwood. Bobby, second from left, is a senior and Daniel, third from left, a junior through the Christian Home Educators of Siloam Springs. Daniel provided an insightful and polished oration on how the Four-Way Test could be utilized to determine how to best provide charitable giving to benevolent causes while Bobby provided a very challenging message on applying the Four-Way Test to a very contemporary issue of dealing with refugees. Bobby bested his brother in the contest, but it was evident that the judges struggled with determining a decisive winner. Upon graduation, Bobby’s plans are focused on a pending appointment to West Point Military Academy. The tedious and protracted application process has come to a close as Bobby now patiently awaits the outcome. Bobby and Daniel are the sons of Dr. Robert and Sherri Norwood of Siloam Springs. Also pictured are Rotary Club President Tim Estes, left, and speech coordinator Jim Krall.
