Ninth-grade teams lose at George

SPRINGDALE -- The Siloam Springs ninth-grade boys basketball team grabbed an early lead Thursday at Springdale George, but the Panthers couldn't stay with the Wranglers in the second half in a 50-38 loss.

Siloam Springs (6-12, 1-4) led 11-8 after the first quarter, but George rallied to take a 22-21 lead at halftime. The Wranglers then outscored the Panthers 20-8 in the third quarter to pull ahead 42-29 going into the fourth.

Jacob Wakefield led the Panthers with 17 points, while Micah Eldridge had six, Baron Meek and Karson Clement each with five, Matt Avery with three and Logan Kleckner with two.

Girls

Springdale George raced out to a big lead early and never looked back in a 44-19 win over the Siloam Springs ninth-grade girls.

George outscored the Panthers 15-2 in the first quarter and pulled ahead 23-3 at halftime. The Lady Panthers (6-13, 2-3) trailed 35-15 heading into the fourth quarter.

Alexis Roach led the Lady Panthers with six points, while Chloe Price, Turtle Shreve and Hailey Dorsey each had three points. McKenzie Blanchard and Tigeris Quinn each had two.

Up next

Both Siloam Springs teams host Springdale Central on Monday at Panther Activity Center. The girls play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 6:45 p.m.
