The Siloam Springs football team will have a fresh look on the field in 2016.

New game-day jerseys were delivered to Panther Fieldhouse on Tuesday, and head coach Bryan Ross said that created a wave of excitement among the players.

"They look pretty good don't they?" Ross said. "The kids have been fired up. When they saw them they were excited. They couldn't wait to try them on."

The new jerseys, which are made by Nike, come in maroon and white colors, with the word "Siloam" over the number.

The home maroon jersey features white lettering and numbers with a gray outline on the number. They also have gray sleeves and gray trim on the collar with a maroon and white pattern on both shoulders.

Both are to be worn with gray pants, which feature a maroon belt and maroon stripe on the side of the legs. Inside the stripe is the word "Panthers" in white.

The Panthers will keep the same look on their helmet that they've had the last several years -- the silver helmet with the "SS" logo featuring Panther claw marks.

The last season the Panthers played with new jerseys was the 2012 season, their first in Class 6A. Ross said athletics director Kevin Downing gave the program plenty of freedom in selecting a good quality uniform.

"We're on a four-year rotation with sports, and it was our time," Ross said. "Coach Downing allowed us to try and get some of the best. Those Nike uniforms are good ones.

Ross said this is the third set of Nike jerseys for the football team.

"They tend to hold up," he said. "I was real pleased with the last set."

In keeping with recent tradition, the old varsity jerseys will become the new ninth-grade jerseys.
