Sports camps

Numerous sports camps are being held on the campus of John Brown University this summer. Summer sports camps at JBU are owned and operated by each individual coach. Camp participants are not contracting with John Brown University and John Brown University does not own, run or have any responsibility for these camps.

Early tackle football registration

The Boys and Girls Club of Western Benton County has registration available for its Tackle Football Program online at www.bgcwbc.org or in person at the club. Cost is $45. The league will consist of teams from the Siloam Springs, Bentonville and Fayetteville Boys and Girls Clubs. There will be one team for each grade in Siloam from third to sixth grade. Home games will be played on Saturdays at Panther Stadium. Semifinal playoff games will potentially be held in Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium with the championships being held in Siloam Springs. The season runs from Sept. 10 to Nov. 5. No gate fees will be taken at any games, including playoffs or championship games. Volunteer coaches needed

The Boys and Girls Club of Western Benton County is currently seeking anyone interested in helping out as a volunteer coach for the club's third-sixth-grade tackle football program. Teams travel to Bentonville and Fayetteville for games as well as play in Siloam Springs. Anyone interested please contact the club at 479-524-4174 or email [email protected].

Fitness classes

The Walton Lifetime Health Complex, on the campus of John Brown University, offers a variety of fitness classes weekly. Class fees range from $3-$5 a session -- please call 524-7246 for more information. Cardio Party meets on Monday and Friday at 12:15 p.m. and Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. Group Power meets on Tuesday and Thursday at 6 a.m., 8:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Group Centergy meets on Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. and Friday at 8:30 a.m.

The WLHC also offers numerous classes for its Silver Sneakers Program. The "Classic" class is Wednesday and Friday at 9:45 a.m. and the "Circuit" class is Tuesday and Thursday at 9:45 a.m. A "Smooth Moves" class is offered at 9:45 a.m. on Monday. A "Silver Splash" class in the shallow end of the indoor pool meets on Monday and Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. There is also a Morning Stretch and Tone at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Aqua Aerobics Class meets on Monday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Hub White Pool at the WLHC. All exercise is done in the four-foot section of the pool. Please call Barb at 524-5397 for information about this class.
