Poetry walk set for Monday

The Siloam Springs Public Library will be hosting a poetry walk Monday, June 27, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. Those participating in the walk will meet at the old library at 401 W. University and will be walking part of the trail. Some of the trail goes by Bob Henry Park. The walk will stop along the route to hear residents read poetry. The poetry readers will be Jesse Greenhill, Gary and Pam Scism, Traci Rae Letellier and Olivia Myers.

Greenhill lives in Siloam Springs with his wife, Bay, and their three children. He is a second-year MFA candidate in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Arkansas.

Gary and Pam Scism have both lived and worked in the area for most of their lives and were active with the Siloam Springs Theater. Pam is an active member of the Siloam Springs Chamber and Gary is the risk manager for ASAP Services Inc. in Springdale.

Letellier is an award-winning poet born in Siloam Springs, Ark. Her poem, "Outlaw Country," was selected by final judge and Pulitzer-prize winning poet, Claudia Emerson, for the 2014 Guy Owen Award for poetry and published in Southern Poetry Review.

Myers helps with worship at the church she attends, is active in student council, and has performed with the high school theater.

Afterwards the walk will break for a light snack and a drawing for prizes at the Bob Henry Park Pavilion. In the event of rain, the walk will move to Tuesday, June 28, at 6:30 p.m. and will still meet at the old library.
