It was a productive and efficient night Monday for the John Brown University women's basketball team.

The Golden Eagles rolled out to a big first-quarter lead over Northwest Arkansas neighbor school Eccelsia and finished with a 110-37 victory over an under-manned Royals squad at Bill George Arena.

Ecclesia (2-2): Roberts 13, Eatmon 9, Moore 6, McGraw 4, Winston 4, Gresham 1.

John Brown (2-0): Cameron 19, Reece 17, Martin 15, Schammel 11, Powell 11, Skrastina 10, Orpo 8, Fine 6, Williams 6, Roh 5, Pelegreen 2.

All 11 JBU players that dressed out got into the game and all 11 got in the scoring column for JBU.

"It was good because I really need my backups to get some quality minutes," said JBU head coach Jeff Soderquist, "because we're really going to need them to help us in this stretch we've got coming up."

The Golden Eagles hit 44 of 75 (58.7 percent) of their shots from the field, including 16 of 29 (55.2 percent) from behind the 3-point line.

JBU led 29-6 after the first quarter and 67-19 at halftime. By the end of the third quarter the lead had grown to 87-29.

Sophomore Baily Cameron led JBU with 19 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Preslea Reece had 17 points and six assists.

Freshman Jordan Martin came off the bench and scored 15 points, while senior Kodee Powell and junior Jana Schammel each had 11 points and five assists.

Junior transfer Luize Skrastina rounded out JBU's six double-digit scorers with 10 points, while junior Rosa Orpo had eight points.

It was good to see production from Skrastina and Orpo, who are from Latvia and Finland, respectively, Soderquist said. In the season-opening 70-66 win against Benedictine on Nov. 1, the two combined for just two points.

Soderquist said Skrastina and Orpo can be a big help to the Golden Eagles' post game to go with Cameron and Reece.

"I think tonight was a good night for Luize and even Rosa," Soderquist said. "They can help us. That will just make our four-headed post a good combo.

"This might have been good for us. Get them settled down and used to playing and what that looks like."

The Golden Eagles played without starting junior guard Kimmy Deines and freshman Ally Teague.

Deines is nursing a leg injury, but the Golden Eagles hope to have her back for this weekend. Teague is dealing with a knee injury and the hope is that she can be back next week.

Mikayla Roberts of Greenwood led Ecclesia with 13 points. The Royals (2-2) only had six players on their roster and available to play for Monday night's game.

The Golden Eagles will now turn their attention to this weekend's JBU Quality Inn Classic, which will be held Friday and Saturday at Bill George Arena.

Four teams -- JBU, Oklahoma City, Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) and College of the Ozarks (Mo.) -- will play four games on Friday and Saturday.

The first game will be at 6 p.m. Friday as Sooner Athletic Conference member Oklahoma City plays College of the Ozarks, followed by John Brown against Lindenwood-Belleville.

On Saturday at 1 p.m. Oklahoma City will play Lindenwood-Belleville and the Golden Eagles will play College of the Ozarks.

JBU's first opponent, the Lynx of Lindenwood-Belleville, is 2-0 on the season with road wins at Georgetown (Ky.) and Cumberlands (Ky.)

"They've got two good wins and they were both on the road," Soderquist said. "They're a very good team."

College of the Ozarks, was ranked No. 7 in the preseason NAIA Division II Coaches Poll after going 28-5 last season. The Bobcats are off to a 5-0 start this season.

"(Coach) Becky (Vest) does a great job," Soderquist said. "They'll be really tough. It'll be two really good games for us."
