Sophomore Ashby Clark tallied two goals and two assists for a career-best outing and the No. 15 John Brown University men's soccer team used a five-goal second half to blow up a two-goal advantage into a 7-0 win over St. Gregory's (Okla.) on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Clark's six-point outing led a charge of five different goalscorers, including a pair from sophomore Kelvin Omondi and strikes from sophomore Ryan Williams, sophomore Corey Ferguson and freshman Amilcar Gonzalez's first-career goal.

The Golden Eagles (9-1-1, 4-0-0 SAC) have now won five straight and have yielded just one goal over the span, out-scoring their opponents 22-1. Junior Adam Holt needed just one save to earn his seventh shutout of the season.

Williams struck for his seventh of the season to open the scoring when he finished off a pretty passing play from Omondi and sophomore Conner Haney in the 27th minute. Six minutes later, JBU doubled its lead again on a tic-tac-toe passing play when Clark sent a backwards pass to Williams, who one-touched a ball through the SGU back line to a streaking Omondi. Omondi buried his ninth of the season by chipping a shot over Cavalier keeper Adrian Cole.

After out-shooting the Cavaliers 14-2 in the first stanza, the Golden Eagles returned to work in the second half and quickly added another in the 58th minute when Omondi notched his 10th of the year and second of the game.

Williams fed a perfect through ball that Omondi struck on goal, prompting Cole to make a huge one-on-one save. The rebound, however, came back and hit Omondi, which then deflected ahead of the striker, past Cole, allowing Omondi to tap the ball into the net.

Clark posted both of his goals in the lopsided second half, which included the strikes from Ferguson, off a perfect centering pass from freshman Benard Mwangi, collecting his first collegiate point, and Gonzalez.

The hosts out-shot St. Gregory's (4-7-0, 0-4-0) by a 31-2 margin.

JBU returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 15, when it welcomes Science & Arts (Okla.) to Alumni Field for a 4 p.m. kick off.

The JBU athletics department is celebrating its "Community Day." The games are free and the first 200 fans will receive a JBU spirit headband.
