Los finishes third at 6A tennis

JONESBORO -- Siloam Springs junior Orest Los advanced to the semifinals of the Class 6A State Boys Tennis Tournament on Tuesday morning where he was defeated by Greenwood's Woody Woodring at Allen Park.

Woodring won the first set 6-4 before Los rallied to take set two 6-0. Woodring won the third set 6-2.

It was the third time the two players have played this season with each having won a match prior to Tuesday.

Los then defeated West Memphis' Carlson Bennage 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 in the third place game.

Los picked up two singles victories to open the state tournament on Monday.

Los defeated Billy Beck of Mountain Home 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the opening round and then knocked off Eric Richardson of Jonesboro 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals to set up Tuesday morning's matches.

The Panthers' senior doubles team of Kip Dooley and Noah Slater received a bye in the opening round of the state tournament after advancing to the finals of the 6A-West Conference Tournament last week.

However, Dooley and Slater were defeated 7-5, 6-4 by Searcy's team of Nate Villemex and Will Wilkins in the quarterfinals of the state tournament on Monday afternoon.

Siloam Springs' other doubles team, Moritz Hayler and Oliver Reid, lost their first round match on Monday 6-1, 6-0 to Jonesboro's Alex Day and Tristan Cato.
