Ninth-grade girls finish fifth in Springdale

SPRINGDALE -- The Siloam Springs ninth-grade girls track team finished fifth on Tuesday in at the Springdale Ninth-grade Relays held at Har-Ber High School.

Rogers won the meet with 133 points, followed by Bentonville 112.5, Springdale Central 70, Rogers Heritage 63, Siloam Springs 49.5, Bentonville West 38, Fayetteville Purple 19, Fayetteville White 17, Gravette 16, Northwest Arkansas Classical 16, Farmington 15, Springdale George 10, Springdale Southwest 10, Providence Classical Christian 9 and Greenland 7.

Jael Harried scored two points with a seventh-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 4 inches.

Rebekah Rodgers tied for fifth in the pole vault and scored 3.5 points with a vault of 6-6.

Brooke Henderson placed fourth and scored five points in the long jump with a mark of 15-4, while Harried finished 11th at 14-8.

Henderson placed fourth in the triple jump and scored five points at 31-5.5, while Rodgers was eighth and scored one point at 29-1. Ella Zaidner placed 10th at 28-3.

Shealy Soucie placed sixth in the discus at 66-0.5 and scored three points, while Alexis Casteneda placed 14th at 58-0.

Soucie placed sixth in the shot put and scored three points at 30-0, while Casteneda finished seventh and scored two points at 28-10.

The team of Candy Dubon, Kimberly Guillen, Emma Hulbert and Rodgers finished fourth and scored five points with a time of 11 minutes, 25.19 seconds in the 4x800-meter relay.

Zaidner placed fifth and scored four points in the 100-meter hurdles at 18.80, while Rodgers was 14th at 19.94 and Harried 16th at 20.18.

Henderson placed 12th in the 100-meter dash at 13.73, while Olivia Lasater placed 36th at 15.16.

Claudia Mercado placed seventh in the 1,600-meter run at 6:20.90 and scored two points, while Guillen was 10th at 6:34.50.

Rodgers placed second in the 300-meter hurdles at 54.68 and scored eight points, while Harried was 17th at 1:03.01 and Zaidner 23rd at 1:18.07.

Hulbert finished fifth and scored four points in the 800-meter run at 2:45.11, while Dubon was seventh and scored two points at 2:49.93.

Henderson placed 11th in the 200-meter dash at 29.91, and Lasater was 33rd at 32.52.

The 4x400-meter relay was not held because of inclement weather.

Boys

Siloam Springs scored five points in the boys meet to finish 13th.

Springdale Central won it with 173 points, followed by Rogers 110.5, Fayetteville White 60, Bentonville 51, Fayetteville Purple 41, Farmington 29, Springdale George 26, Bentonville West 24.5, Springdale Southwest 24, Providence 19, Springdale Lakeside 13, Rogers Heritage 8, Siloam Springs 5 and Northwest Arkansas Classical 1.

Blaise Becan placed 10th in the pole vault with a height of 8 feet.

Nelson Ramirez tied for 17th in the long jump at 17-6, while Jordan Church and Andy Sisco tied for 26th at 16-4.

Church placed 16th in the triple jump at 35-3.5.

Mariano Dominguez scored all five of the Panthers' points with a fourth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 119-11. Kolby Fesler was ninth at 113-7.

Church placed 32nd in the 100-meter dash at 12.39, while Sisco was 37th at 12.85 and Ramirez 39th at 12.94.

Chase Mills placed 30th in the 1,600-meter run at 6:17.79, while Becan was 35th at 6:29.92.

Miguel Paz placed 11th in the 400-meter dash at 59.17.

Tyler Sharp placed 18th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.33.

Church finished 25th in the 200-meter dash at 26.18, while Sisco and Ramirez tied for 31st at 27.05.

The 4x400-meter relay was not held because of inclement weather.

The ninth-grade track team returns to action at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday for the Junior high Pioneer Relays in Gentry.
