Maxwell's hat trick sparks SSHS girls

BERRYVILLE -- The Siloam Springs girls soccer team improved to 12-2 on the season after a 4-0 win Monday at Berryville.

The shutout victory was the Lady Panthers' eighth clean sheet of the season.

Siloam Springs led 2-0 at halftime and scored two more goals in the second half.

Junior forward Audrey Maxwell continued her scoring tear, netting three goals for her team-leading 24th of the season. It was Maxwell's second hat trick of the season with the other three-goal game coming against Greenwood on March 16. She also had a four-goal game against Van Buren in the season-opener on Feb. 28.

Sophomore Laura Morales also scored a goal for her eighth of the year.

Sophomore Hadley Crenshaw registered two assists, while Paige Thompson also had an assist.

Boys

The Siloam Springs boys gave up two second-half goals to Berryville and the Panthers and Bobcats finished in a 2-2 tie.

Christian Marroquin scored a pair of goals in the first half for the Panthers (11-3-1), one of which was assisted by Luke Gumm. After Monday's match, Marroquin had a team-leading 11 goals.

Up next

Both Siloam Springs teams were scheduled to play at Clarksville for a pair of 5A/6A District 1 matches on Tuesday. Results were not available at presstime.

Both teams are scheduled to play their matches against Russellville on Wednesday at Panther Stadium more than a week after the original date was postponed. The girls game will resume with 13:55 left in the first half and Siloam Springs leading 1-0 after an Audrey Maxwell goal on April 4. The boys game will be played in its entirety.

After Wednesday's games, both teams are scheduled to host Harrison on Friday.
