Steven Eugene Church

Steven Eugene Church, 60, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at his home.

He was born on July 25, 1956, in Watsonville, Calif., to Nathan Church and Oneta Davis Church. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy and was a disabled Naval Veteran. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed all sports. He was a knife collector who loved a sharp knife and was always "fidgeting" with a pet project.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Oneta Church.

He is survived by his father, Nathan Church of Farmington, Ark.; two sons, Ryan Church of Lincoln, Ark., and Chris Church; three brothers, Mervin Church and wife Elaine of Siloam Springs, Stanley Church and wife Carolyn of Siloam Springs, and Mitch Church and wife Carolyn of Fayetteville, Ark.; and one granddaughter, Tailynn Church.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Tim Estes officiating. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at the Fayetteville National Cemetery with Military honors.

Edna Sue Jenks

Edna Sue Jenks, 79, of Colcord, Okla., died April 18, 2017, in Siloam Springs, Ark.

She was born Dec. 17, 1937, in Gentry, Ark., to Eugene Smythe and Pauline Glass Smythe. She graduated from Gentry High School. She married Clinton Jenks on May 20, 1955, in Gentry. She was a volunteer for the Gentry Library and was a member of the Siloam Springs Hospital Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton; and one brother, Bob Smythe.

She is survived by four daughters, Suzy Harrington and husband Rick of Colcord, Okla., Barbara McNair and husband David of Colcord, Maudeen Miller and husband Ryan of Colcord, and Ruth Ochs and husband Bobby of Gentry; one son, Hank Jenks and wife Lucinda of Colcord; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Austin Smythe and wife Sharon of Fort Gibson, Okla., and Jim Smythe and wife Maureen of Dunkirk, Md.

Memorial services were April 22, 2017, at Countryside Bible Church in Colcord, Okla., with Pastor Logan Shelley officiating. The family will have a private committal service at Gentry Cemetery.

George "Abe" Reed

George "Abe" Reed, 95, of Springtown, Ark., died April 20, 2017, at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital in Siloam Springs, Ark.

He was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Eagle Rock, Mo., to James "Billy" Reed and Greta Lasley Reed. He was a retired cattleman. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ellis and Carl; and two sisters, Freda and Jessie.

He is survived by a brother, Kenneth Reed and wife Georgia of Gentry, Ark.; and three sisters, Mary Holt of Fayetteville, Ark., Vivian Sloan of California and Mabel Tilbur of Spencer, Iowa.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs. Burial will follow at Springtown Cemetery in Springtown.
